Auto, homeowners and business insurance claim payouts for damage caused by Superstorm Sandy, which struck the East Coast on October 29, 2012, stood earlier this year at about $18.75 billion, according to ISO’s Property Claim Services. Billions of dollars more were paid to flood insurance policyholders after Sandy through FEMA’s National Flood ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Program (NFIP).
