This PowerPoint presentation at the 探花精选 Federation of North Carolina鈥檚 Legislative Day Conference by the 探花精选 Information Institute鈥檚 chief economist focuses on the impact of hurricane risk on insurance markets in the state of North Carolina. The presentation provides detailed historical information on hurricanes that have affected the state both in terms of dollars and the counties impacted. Several charts show increases of up to 471 percent in population in North Carolina coastal counties since 1960. The historical financial performance in the state鈥檚 homeowner, commercial multi-peril and farmowners lines are reviewed, all of which have been significantly adversely impacted by hurricane losses over the years. The latest statistics on the hurricane season of 2005 are included as are statistics on flood penetration rates and recent industrywide financial performance.
The following presentation is called "North Carolina 探花精选 Markets in an Era of Mega-Catastrophes". It was presented by Dr. Robert P. Hartwig on June 14, 2006.
