SPONSORED BY

This PowerPoint report, prepared by Robert Hartwig, president of the 探花精选 Information Institute, discusses hurricane risk in the Northeast. The presentation provides an outlook for the 2008 hurricane season, which has a 25 percent chance of being worse than average. It includes the hypothetical case of a Category 4 or 5 storm hitting the Northeast and a historical look at hurricanes affecting the region since 1900, with a specific focus on years such as 1938 when catastrophic storms hit. It also includes charts showing historical hurricane strikes (1900-2007) in eight counties in the region from New Jersey to Massachusetts. The charts also show rapid population growth in these areas.

The following presentation is called "Hurricane Risk in the Northeast United States: A Real and Present Danger". It was presented by Dr. Robert P. Hartwig on March 19, 2008.
