Dr. Mark J. Browne is the Chair of the Faculty of the School of Risk Management in the Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University, where he is the Robert Clements Distinguished Chair in Risk Management and ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡. In addition, he is an associate member of the Munich Risk ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Center at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and a member of the International Research Advisory Board of the Risk and ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Research Center at National Chengchi University in Taiwan.

Dr. Browne’s expertise focuses on risk management, insurance, and employee benefits. Prior to St. John’s University, he was the Gerald D. Stephens CPCU Chair in Risk Management and ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was president of the American Risk and ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Association, the Risk Theory Society and the European Group of Risk and ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Economists. His research has appeared in many publications, including the Journal of Risk and ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡, of which he is an associate editor, the Journal of ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Regulation,Ìý³Ù³ó±ð Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, the Journal of Legal StudiesÌý²¹²Ô»åÌý³Ù³ó±ð CPCU Journal. He is a frequent commentator in the media including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, The Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Dr. Browne received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
